6 Things you might not know about Mama Bloggers
Even though I'm a very novice mama blogger, I have gotten the craziest questions and remarks from people.
"So basically you just get whatever you want?" "So....you get paid to post a photo? That seems ridiculous." "Why don't you partner with Target or something?" Well, instead of answering each question individually, I decided to just write a blog post about it instead :)If you're reading this and you're a mama blogger, I look up to you and I respect what you're doing. To everyone else out there wondering what we're doing with our lives, here are the 6 things you might not know about mama bloggers. I hope this helps!
- We have a reason WHY we do this - I'll speak for myself here even though I know a ton of mama bloggers would say the same thing, but there's a reason we do this. We don't just do this for kicks. I personally blog to pay for preschool, some of our monthly gas, and my Chick-fil-A runs. I can't get enough of their breakfast bagel sandwich. And let's be honest, we all have bills to pay. One of the biggest reasons we do this is so that we can help our families! No matter who you talk to, it's almost always a mama doing this for her family. Remember that.
- We need an outlet - Being home AAAAALLLLLL day every day with your kid(s) can be so draining, so guess what? Why not express yourself, talk to other moms, land a collaboration with a company, create fun content, and release all those other talents that you have inside of you other than being a mom? Don't get me wrong, if you're "just a mom," we all know that's more than enough to take on. I'm talking about IF you have the desire to work or do something else. I know that I can honestly say that the blogging world has made the hard days easier and the easy days better.
- We involve our kids as much as possible - We don't just sit on our phones and work while our kids play all day or watch TV. I think people have such a weird picture in their head for what bloggers do and it's most definitely not what you're picturing. We involve our kids in a TON of our posts! We're moms first. We're always with them, involving them, teaching them, trying out new things with them, and being by their side every step of the way. I know my kids are actually some of the best critiques when it comes to trying a new product and they're always the cutest when you need a photo. :)
- We work hard...really hard - I don't even know what to say here except blogging is SO.MUCH.WORK! The hours that go into this is crazy. Which means we're sacrificing alone time, nap times, and bed times to bust out that next post. We don't just sit at home all day waiting for free stuff to arrive at our doorstep. Gosh, I wish that's how it worked! We have to take photos, plan promotions, write, meet deadlines, edit, post in our IG stories, more writing, drafts, and email. There's literally always something to do. And like I said, I'm a novice at this. I can't imagine what the calendars look like from women who have hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of monthly blog views!
- It's not all hunter boots, Target runs, and coffee breaks - First of all, we don't ALL like the same things. Yes you'll see lots of lattes, milk baths, letter boards, graphic tees and messy buns. But who doesn't love all that? haha). But, on a more serious note, we all have stories and we all have depth. Which means we all have something different to talk about and something different to share in our little space on the internet.
- We have goals, dreams, and visions - We're all working towards something greater. Like paying off a loan, providing something for our kids that we couldn't afford otherwise, giving ourselves a much needed spa day, or finding our little niche in life. Without a vision, crazy dreams, or tangible goals, it'd be hard to do what we do.
This is a job so that we can be home with our families more, provide for them, and stay sane through creative outlets. Or maybe all of the above. I hope this helps!
